"What Is the Ugliest Language in the World?" (stylised as What Is the UGLIEST Language in the World) is a video by Language Simp. It was uploaded to YouTube on April 14, 2023.

Why It's the Ugliest Video in the World

  1. The main problem of the video is that Language Simp is being xenophobic by calling other languages ugly:
    1. He thinks that British English is ugly, though there is nothing wrong with British English, and this is not the first time he has made fun of it for no good reason.
    • Even the British person who Language Simp talked to on the webcam said his channel sucks because of him insulting British English for no good reason.
    1. He thinks that Arabic is ugly for no reason. He is also being hypocritical as he previously said it was a "beautiful" language and that it was "illegal to not know it" in his video "Arabic Alphabet Explained by an American."[1]
  2. He doesn't know the difference between communism and democracy, though they are obviously not the same, as a communist state is literally an example of a dictatorship.
  3. He thinks that Americans know nothing about Asia, though actually, everyone knows about Asia due to exploration by Europeans and Arabs and colonialism, as well as global trade with Asia and Marco Polo. Furthermore, if Americans knew nothing about Asia, then there would be no Asians in America (who mostly come from East Asia and Southeast Asia), which means that anime, manga, K-pop, K-dramas, and manhwa wouldn't be recognized there, meaning that there would be no weeaboos and Koreaboos there and Psy's Gangnam Style would have stayed in South Korea as K-pop fans across the world who were already fans of K-pop mentioned the song on Twitter and did reactions and blogs on the song, which explains why the song (despite being in Korean) spread outside South Korea, as well as the fact that K-pop spread to the West in the late 2000s, which would never have happened if Americans knew nothing about Asia. Plus, the United States occupied southern Korea (modern-day South Korea) from 1945 to 1948, colonized the Philippines, and occupied Japan alongside the Allies from 1945 to 1952, so therefore, Americans must know a lot about Asia. Not only that, but Language Simp himself knows a lot about Asia. Plus, Ni Hao Kai-Lan! would never exist, considering that it was the first Asian-themed ethnic media on Nickelodeon with Avatar: The Last Airbender being the second (judging by the people of Asian descent involved in the former, especially creator Karen Chau, born Chau Kai Lan), and there would be no Chinatowns and other Asian ethnic enclaves there if Americans knew nothing about Asia.
  4. Hypocrisy: He cannot understand what the Chinese man said, yet he himself can speak fluent Mandarin Chinese with no problems. Understandably, the Chinese language has tones, which explains why phono-semantic matching exists.
  5. Language Simp cannot pronounce ع، ح and ص properly, contradicting the fact to the fact he was able to speak Arabic in the video "Arabic Alphabet Explained by an American."[1]
  6. This video was pointless because he said that he loves languages and that he hates it whenever someone calls them ugly, so why did he make the video in the first place?

Not So Ugly Qualities

  1. Language Simp thankfully regretted calling languages ugly at the end, although that also made it pointless to make this video.
  2. He actually used samples from native speakers, though in a weird way. For example, he used an Australian to speak German while mistaking it as an Austrian.
